Millennium Park Christmas Tree Came From a Front Yard in Elgin

Chicago’s official Christmas tree will soon be on its way from Elgin to Millennium Park, after city crews cut down the big evergreen today! Gene Nelson and his family generously donated the stunning 55-foot Blue Spruce that was growing in their front yard. The massive tree was taking over his yard, and his neighbors! Though the Nelson family is sad to say goodbye to their tree, they're thrilled to be part of a Chicago tradition. THANK YOU, Nelson Family, for donating your tree to the city.

Friday night the tree will arrive in Millennium Park. Mark your calendar for the official tree lighting ceremony, which will take place on November 22nd at 6:00 p.m.
