COVID-19 Causing Some Hospitals to Ban Dads from the Delivery Room

As if pregnant women need another thing to worry about, the coronavirus outbreak has caused some hospitals in the U.S. to make a major change in the delivery room...

In an effort to protect healthcare workers, new babies, and mothers, some New York City hospitals are banning partners of pregnant women from being in the delivery room while mothers give birth. New York Presbyterian Hospital says they know it will be tough for patients, but that “this is a necessary step to promote safety.” A petition against the rule with more than 150,000 signatures is circulating, and Mayor Bill DeBlasio has slammed the hospital’s move. OBGYN Dr. Lisa Masterson says hospitals are ready for pregnant patients.
