Luke Bryan, Carrie Underwood, Lainey Wilson, Tyler Hubbard, Jelly Roll and others appear in a newly-debuted NBC promo for a tribute to late country legend Toby Keith.
Toby Keith: American Icon took place on July 29 at Bridgestone Arena in Downtown Nashville, Tennessee. The full, star-studded lineup included Trace Adkins, Priscilla Block, Luke Bryan, Eric Church, Jordan Davis, Scotty Emerick, Brantley Gilbert, Riley Green, HARDY, Tyler Hubbard, Jamey Johnson, Krystal Keith, Ella Langley, Mac McAnally, Ashley McBryde, Parker McCollum, Jelly Roll, Darius Rucker, Carrie Underwood, Clay Walker and Lainey Wilson. Artists covered some of Keith’s most memorable hits throughout his decades-long career. Gilbert previously said it was “a true honor to celebrate the legacy of the Big Dog Daddy himself, Mr. Toby Keith… I hope we did you proud, TK.” The event supported The Toby Keith Foundation’s OK Kids Korral and Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt with a portion of the proceeds, per a previously-issued press release.
After a years-long battle with stomach cancer, Keith “passed peacefully…surrounded by his family,” per a statement shared to his social media pages earlier this year. He was 62. The country singer-songwriter is survived by his wife, Tricia Lucus, and three children, Shelley Covel Rowland, Krystal Keith and Stelen Keith Covel. Krystal wore her father’s custom-made hat when she delivered a heartfelt tribute to him on the Bridgestone Arena stage.
Toby Keith: American Icon will air as a two-hour television special on NBC on Wednesday, August 28 from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. ET.
