Report: Dating Apps Share Your Sensitive Info With Advertisers-
You know how you fill you dating profile with personal info? It’s being given to advertisers.
That’s according to a new study by the Norwegian Consumer Council released yesterday. It says a number of dating apps are sharing sensitive personal information with advertisers. A coalition of civil rights and consumer groups now wants state and federal regulators to investigate.
The study found that ten apps, including popular dating apps Tinder, OKCupid and Grindr collect information including users' exact locations, sexual orientation, religious and political beliefs as well as drug use. The information is then passed on to a least 135 different parties.
Watchdog group Public Citizen says "These apps and online services spy on people, collect vast amounts of personal data and share it with third parties without people's knowledge. Industry calls it adtech. We call it surveillance.”
