Disney Pokes Fun At Itself In New Trailer For Wreck-It Ralph 2
By Trace In The Truck
YES! As Big955 resident movie guy, movie trailers are a big part of this blog. With that being said, it takes a lot (good or bad) for a trailer to actually make it onto my blog. I'm seeing a whole lotta good in this one! The first Wreck-It Ralph had my heart because it combined that Toy Story-esque element of what happens to objects when humans aren't around and paired it with video games (another pastime of mine). NOW we have upgraded to the internet and Disney pulls zero punches when it comes to making fun of themselves while simultaneously flexing their "look how many franchises we own" muscles. Wouldn't be surprised if something from the Marvel universe makes a small cameo. You have everything under the sun, seen through the eyes of some of the most creative minds in the world. Amazon, Google, the internet search bar is a literal creature with autofill settings, Twitter is literally blue birds talking to each other through tweets, it's genius!
The scene stealer, and possibly a huge plot line, however is the princess scene. Yes, Disney has built their legacy on damsels in distress more times than not being saved by a prince. But it's 2018! Times are changing and Disney is shifting focus to female empowerment (better late than never). It's only the trailer but something tells me this movie is going to focus a whole lot more on Venellope (Sarah Silverman) and a little less on Ralph.
Sidenote: That princess scene, the princesses are (mostly) voiced by the actors who voiced them in their respective standalone movies. I love that!
