Introducing The University of Illinois' New Mascot.....An Otter??

Okay, okay, so the mascot choice is not official but how funny would it be if THIS is what replaced The Chief at U of I?? Is the sports program at Illinois a complete dumpster fire? For the most part, yes. Will the mascot of the Fighting Illini being a kid friendly otter help matters at all? Absolutely not. Well actually, this mascot might make sense, considering the internet is full of cute videos of otters floating on their backs and the Fighting Illini find themselves on their backs by the end of most games. (The Fighting Illini hasn't made a tournament appearance since 2013, U of I football went 4-8 in 2018, and both are currently the laughing stock of the Big Ten...) So maybe this mascot wouldn't be such a bad idea. The animal fits the current state of the program. Again, this is just a concept and this blog is in no way an official release of what U of I plan to do for a new mascot, my choice is bring the Chief back...but we know those days are long gone. @Traceahamilton
