Remembering Fallen Hero Chicago Police Commander Paul Bauer

We send our love and condolences to the first responders and family of Commander Paul Bauer.

Commander Bauer, a 31-year-veteran, passed away Tuesday, February 13th after a confrontation occurred at the Thompson Center when he spotted a fleeing man who matched the description of an offender wanted by tactical officers in the area.

Bauer was shot multiple times and passed away from his injuries. He was survived by his wife and 13-year-old daughter.

The Chicago Tribune reports Bauer is the first Chicago police officer shot and killed since 2011 and is the highest-ranking officer killed in decades.

Commander Bauer was a dear friend of the 100 Club and a former commander of the mounted unit and assisted the Club with several outings.
